GiveBIG 2026 Update – May 5, 4PM

Another beautiful day in Seattle, made even more beautiful thanks to all of you who have donated so far. Our match challenge has been met and took us across the finish line to reach our goal! Thank you to everyone who showed their commitment to the animals who never give up.

Though the match has been met, there is still time during GiveBig 2026 to make a wonderful difference in the lives of animals in need. We still have stories of hope and happy ending to share throughout the rest of the day and hope you will come along with us.

Cassiopeia – Patience

Cassiopeia was originally adopted from MEOW as a kitten in 2017, and for years she enjoyed a loving home. But in April 2025, she returned to us when her owner sadly had to move and could not take her along. Our commitment to every MEOW cat is lifelong—so when Cassiopeia needed us again, we were honored to welcome back an old friend.

A gentle veterinary exam revealed she needed a dental procedure and was also likely living with osteoarthritis. While under anesthesia for her dental work, X-rays confirmed the diagnosis, and a pain management plan was started immediately.

Cassie was clearly overwhelmed by her return to shelter life and became withdrawn. She needed the comfort and patience of a foster home. With quiet routines and consistency, Cassie slowly relaxed and rediscovered her personality—eventually even rolling over for affection and showing her playful side again. Her osteoarthritis is now well managed with monthly medication, and stress-related flare-ups, including pancreatitis, have significantly improved.

After several months, Cassiopeia returned to MEOW and settled into our Winter Suite. Her transformation is a testament to patience and care. Now she greets visitors with a soft purr, happily accepting gentle attention while peacefully observing the world around her.

Cassie is our longest-term resident. Our hopes are high for our sweet tabby girl to finally find a home appreciative of her calm, gentle nature.
