Howdy everyone, what an exciting day for the animals of MEOW, thanks to you, our amazing supporters!
Boy Howdy, Betty Sue & Miss Smudge – Stamina
It began with a chance discovery. While walking his dog through a deserted parking lot, a passerby noticed abandoned crates left out in the rain. Inside one, a terrified young tabby huddled for shelter. Nearby, another cat crouched in fear. With care and urgency, both were rescued, and soon a third was safely trapped. The trio—Boy Howdy, Betty Sue, and Miss Smudge—were nearly identical, distinguished only by the markings on their noses.
With the help of rescuer, Janis, all three were brought to safety, spayed and neutered, and placed in a patient MEOW foster home. Though shy at first, their gentle spirits began to emerge. Even Miss Smudge, the most timid, found her own way to connect—softly reaching out with a paw from behind the sofa.
Betty Sue quickly blossomed and found her forever home. But Boy Howdy and Miss Smudge faced ongoing health challenges, including gastrointestinal issues and concerning liver markers. Their recovery required months of careful monitoring, treatment, and unwavering dedication.
Now, after eight long months, both are finally healthy and ready for the loving homes they deserve. While they wait, they’ve become cherished members of the shelter—often spotted happily “hunting” squirrels on their favorite cat TV.
