Little Man & Jovie – Mettle
At MEOW, we know that spay/neuter programs are essential to ending companion animal homelessness. Through our Toms and Moms Program, we help families keep and care for their cats while offering their vulnerable kittens a healthy start and a forever home.
When a Kirkland resident reached out about a mama cat and her five kittens, we stepped in right away. At just seven weeks old, Little Man, Jovie, Bernard, Artie, and Miles were underweight and battling illness. Little Man faced even greater challenges than the others: painful corneal ulcers clouded his eyes, and a traumatic mouth wound left him in need of urgent care.
In a competent and loving foster home, the kittens began to improve. Soon, Bernard, Artie, and Miles were thriving and were adopted into happy homes.
But when Little Man’s eyes did not improve with medication, he was diagnosed with a rare fungal infection requiring intensive, round-the-clock treatment. Thanks to his foster mom’s tireless dedication, his eyes are becoming bright. With successful oral surgery for his mouth wound, his final hurdle is now behind him. Throughout it all, he remained upbeat and resilient.
His bond with sister Jovie is now so strong—the two often meow for one another when briefly separated.
Today, Little Man and Jovie are healthy, very playful, and so ready to go home —together.
