GiveBIG 2024 Update – May 8, 4pm

As of 4 PM, we have raised $34,500. This compassion will allow us to take action for not only the cats, but the dogs as well. At MEOW, we’re not just about the cats. We have a small but mighty dog division as well.

If you haven’t donated and would like to donate to support the dogs, when you enter your donation, select “Canine Division”. Your gift will allow us to continue to partner with other rescue organizations, helping when and where we can.

Jiggy

At 12 years old, Jiggy was living with his owner at a care facility until he became unwelcome there due to repeated complaints from residents and staff. Jiggy was constantly ravenous, barking to demand food and water, needing to relieve himself frequently.

Because his owner had no other options for personal care, Jiggy wound up at Everett Animal Shelter. When the vet there ran blood and urine labs on him, it became obvious what was causing his behavior. Jiggy is diabetic. His future at the shelter became very high risk. They reached out to Kelly, who runs MEOW’s Canine Division.

MEOW Canine is well-known for special dogs, particularly breeds such as Chinese Shar Pei, Great Dane, and the four varieties of hairless breed dogs. Jiggy is an American Hairless Terrier.

Kelly quickly responded and immediately worked with Salish Vet Clinic to establish an insulin regimen. In addition, they noted that he had several lumps and bumps that needed to be removed and biopsied, especially the nasty one on his eyelid, and he desperately needed a dental.

Jiggy is proving to be a delightful little 16 pound good boy. After having a handful of bad teeth removed, his mouth is comfortable. He’s a real champ with his twice daily subcutaneous insulin injections, which have normalized his appetite and thirst. He’s got very nice manners. We’re committed to keeping Jiggy’s life as normal as it can be.

Shelters and vet partners know they can count on us to help dogs like Jiggy. We have hopes of helping him find a new family, but whether or not that happens, he will be loved and cared for, kept happy and comfortable for the rest of his life.

Thank you for joining with us and transforming the compassion we all feel for the animals into lifesaving action!
