Committed to Being There to Help
Eros & His Entourage

Urgent, complex situations often require group efforts, where multiple rescuers, shelters, vets, MEOW staff, and volunteers commit to working together to aid animals in distress.

On a cold, rainy February day, Dr. White, a veterinarian working with Puget Sound Working Cat Kitten Tamers and Auburn Valley Humane Society, had rescued more than 20 cats and kittens abandoned on the side of the I-5 freeway. Soaked, icy cold, and terrified, they huddled in wire crates. Would MEOW commit to helping some of them, she asked? Yes. We surely would.

On their arrival, ten cats and kittens were gently assessed. The five very young kittens would spend time in one of our foster homes, receiving loving care, medical attention, and gentle socialization until ready for spay/neuter and adoption. The older five, Eros, Fiona, Perry, Thelma, and Louise, once tested, fully vaccinated, treated for parasites, microchipped and altered, received a clean bill of health and were made available for adoption. All of the cats and kittens were provided a soft place to land, all of their needs tended to, and their personalities were observed, ensuring the best match with their future families.

There is no better feeling than seeing the culmination of these coordinated efforts: brave-hearted cats, snuggled into the arms of their new forever humans. Home at last.
