Committed to Those Considered Less Than Perfect
The Librarians

In September of 2021, a young mom cat and six large kittens were found on a roadside near Tacoma. Peering up from the laundry basket in which they arrived at MEOW, it became apparent that only two of the kittens belonged to mama.

To provide more intensive socialization, the kittens were sent to foster homes in pairs and the mama cat went by herself.  Separated from her kittens, mama paced, howled incessantly, and scratched at the walls. Only after being reunited with her two boys was she content.

Trust takes time. After months in foster care, they became residents of our Library free-roaming room and we began calling them The Librarians. MEOW was committed to finding them a home together, however long that might take. It would be a big ask to adopt three grown cats, wary of humans, and it would require very special adopters.
