Rasta

On Saturday, Tyler and I came in and adopted little Jack-Jack (now Rasta).  We couldn’t be more please with the service we received, and with how helpful and patient the staff was with us as we tried to decide which cat to take home.  Rasta is such a funny little guy, and we love him so much!  Unlike cats we’ve had in the past, he warmed up to us and to our home immediately, and is constantly curious about what we’re doing.  He gets confused if we’re all on the couch together and then somebody gets up – you can tell he wants to stay and continue to be pet, but then he also wants to see what the other person is up to!  He’ll run back and forth between us, keeping an eye on all the action.  He’s an incredibly loving and affectionate little guy.  When Tyler leaves for work in the morning, he follows him to the front door and then cries for 5 minutes once he’s left.  I think it’s safe to say that he loves us as much as we love him.  Again, we just wanted to say thank you for all of your help!!  We are truly so glad that we have this little addition to our family. – Tyler, Denise & Rasta

Bella and Luna

Hello!  This is Bella (a.k.a. Granita) writing from my new home where I live with my daughter Luna (a.k.a. Halle) and our humans, the Ottersburgs.  We moved here about 6 months ago, and we’ve been making ourselves at home ever since.  At first, we were very shy and spent a lot of time hiding.  Our humans were a little worried we would never warm up.  But they were wrong!  We never hide from them anymore, and only go under the bed when strangers come over.  We love to be pet, and cuddle with our mom and dad when they sit on the couch.  We’re having lots of fun playing with all our toys, especially the laser pointer.  We’ll catch it eventually!

We’re showing more and more personality every day.  Luna is a known sock stealer; her record is 8 socks in one day!  She seems to think each sock is a “kill” and announces it to the whole family – no matter the hour.  Myself, I like to be comfortable, and will always be in the cushiest spot in the house.  My mom says it’s really hard to get a good photo of both of us, especially because almost every time she points the camera, I run at her and ask for some pets, but here is a pretty good one so you can see how happy we are.  I’m the big fluffy one and Luna is the little one.

Well, we just wanted to let you know that we’re doing great and we’ve found our forever home.  Thanks!

Sir Galahad

Hard to believe that I’ve lived with my people for 6 years now – time truly flies when you’re having fun.

I came to MEOW from North Bend through the county animal control; they found me wandering around outside and said I was sick, so I had to stay at MEOW and get better to be adopted. HAH – I fooled them! I got a private room at MEOW right away, and then my person came in and it was love at first sight. When I went home, I discovered I had a very tiny and elderly feline auntie who taught me the ropes, and there were dogs too!!! I wasn’t too sure about the dogs, but now we play, chasing each other through the house. I’ve learned to sit up for treats (when it suits me) and I get to go for walks in the back yard on a harness. I like everyone, I’m present for all parties, and I absolutely positively adore being brushed. I have this glorious tuxedo of long hair, and I’m always silky smooth after a brushing. I have toys, all the treats I can eat, I sleep everywhere, and my mom calls me “the little Prince”. I even have my very own dvd to watch of birds and mice and squirrels. The only thing I do that seems to irritate my mom is that I sing loudly at all hours. I think I was an aspiring opera singer before I came to MEOW, and I still have the dream.

It really is wonderful to be me!

Sincerely,
Sir Galahad

Mango

Hello! Mango here, writing to you from my new home. Things are working out well here. I have a whole big apartment just for me, with lots of soft carpet and a cozy bed to sleep on. It’s so much better than being outside in the cold! My new human and I have lots of quality conversations, and she tells everyone she knows how smart and beautiful I am. I’ve trained her to know when I want to eat and sleep, and when I want to be petted and when I want to play. All in all, things are pretty good here! How nice to be appreciated for the perfect cat that I am, give or take a leg?

Thanks to everyone at MEOW for taking good care of me and helping me find my new home. My human and I both appreciate it, and send our love. ~ Mango

Milo

Milo is curled up next to me with a little smile on his sleeping face as I write this.  We adopted him last week after wanting to add a pet in our home ever since we moved to Seattle last summer.  It has been such a fun week bonding with this sweet kitty who loves to be petted, loves playing with his toys, greets us when we get home and just generally seems pleased to be the center of attention.  He loves to purr, give kisses and definitely lets us know when it’s breakfast time.  We couldn’t have imagined a better addition to our family.  We were so impressed with the adoption volunteers and staff at MEOW and were very excited to have found such a wonderful organization.  The cats there are very blessed and we wish we could have given them all a home!  We know where we’re coming if Milo needs a buddy! Thanks again, Jared and Sarah Ray

Juliet

Last year, my family adopted a shy little kitty named Heidi on February 13, 2009. We renamed Heidi and now call her Juliet because she is such a pretty little kitty and my best friend has a cat named Romeo. Juliet was a little crazy at first and had a few incidents, like the time she hid in the fireplace or when the dogs tried to eat her food. After a while Juliet calmed down quite a bit and soon she began following our bigger dog Charlie around the house, and sleeping on the dog beds. Even Molly, (our other dog.) who hated Juliet at first has grown to accept her. Now Juliet is very cuddly and playful, and is definitely not the kitty that hid in the fireplace.

Thanks for letting us adopt such a wonderful cat,

The Goodson Family

Machinegun Eddie

We adopted Edmund in October.  He is absolutely the sweetest most loving cat ever.  His big sister, Ooma, also adopted, adores him and their playfulness keeps her weight down and keeps Eddie form getting bored, or cold.   She was a standoffish girl, but Eddie has warmed her up and she is much more loving with humans now. We started by calling him Bonnie Prince Edmund, but that has changed to “Machinegun” Eddie Love, for he is the loving-est, purring-est, happiest boy ever.  However it is you raise your kittens, I have never met a cat so gentle, yet all-boy!  With us or with Ooma, he never extends a claw.  We also call him the “Schnuzzle” King, because he loves to pet back and groom his family, with soft licks and nuzzles.  What a guy!  Cannot thank you enough.

Amelia

A little over a year ago, I adopted a kitty from your organization. The experience was so wonderful, and your shelter is so protective and good to our furry friends that I have had a warm spot in my heart for MEOW ever since. I’ve told all my friends to support you, and to speak to you if they are looking for a permanent companion.

The fuzzy little girl I adopted from your shelter was in foster care most of the time, so you probably won’t remember her very well – but without your website, we wouldn’t be together. She was trapped in a tree for more than six days while they tried to find her and get her down, and suffered terrible dehydration as well as the winter cold before MEOW took her in. Her foster family called her ‘Kat’ and nursed her back to health with MEOW’s help.

I invited her into my family last January, and we’ve been terribly happy with one another. Her name now is Amelia (after another female explorer who was very good at going up, and not so much at getting back down again). She is the light of my life, and a friendly, playful companion. Every day when I come home from work, she greets me with kitty songs; every morning when the alarm goes off, she provides her own ‘snooze button’ by climbing on top of me and singing meows until I give her skritches. She has everything she could ever want, and the best of food and Things to Sleep On.

We’re both tremendously happy, and she has an absolutely dedicated Forever Home. Attached are two pictures of my little girl, and my grateful thanks for all that you folks do for these sweet animals. You are the best!

Fras and Buddy

March 2011 Update

Just an update for Buddy and Fras: They are now 1.5 years old. When we adopted them from MEOW they were 4 months old. They are very active kitties playing, and sleeping a lot of the time. Fras tries to wash her toys while Buddy attacks them. They are joined at the hip as you can tell. It has been a joy to have them in our lives and they are much loved and adored by us. Though they still hide from visitors, Fras comes out to investigate at a distance. Thank you once again for giving them a home with us.

We adopted 2 adorable kitties last Saturday the 9th of Jan 2010 from MEOW Cat Shelter, Sassafras, AKA Fras and Sasquatch, AKA Buddy. After letting our last kitty go last March ’09, we (I mostly) decided it was time to have little feet running around again. We have had kitties for the last 25 years and they were our kids, part of our home, part of our life, it was so quiet without those purrs and little kisses.

Though it’s been a short time they have given us very calming purrs and lots of energy, as I can’t get them to sit still for a picture. We have lots of time and will enjoy their presence forever.

I want to thank the staff and the foster parents for the diligent care and love for these kitties. They are home forever.

Thank-you all,

P & D Shea

Buddy Big

My partner Adam and I adopted Buddy Big on September 2nd and want to share some photos with you and update you on how he is doing. He is such a one-of-a-kind spirit and fabulous addition to our family–we could not be happier. He makes us laugh every day and is always around for a furry cuddle and love bite (we discovered very shortly after we brought him home that he shows affection with gentle nibbles!). His name has gradually morphed to “Biggy” and he responds with a switch of his tail whenever he hears us talking about him.

He wasted no time laying claim to his new home and making a spot for himself on any available lap and in between us in bed at night. Our vet has helped us develop a healthy diet and weight-loss regimen for Biggy and we are proud to announce that he lost 1 pound in September! We are planning to help him drop one pound per month until he gets to his goal weight. He is very frisky and playful and does not let a day slip by without showing his scratching post who is boss, attacking anything that wiggles under a blanket, and playing games of “laser cat” with his papa.

He has a few bad habits that we are trying to gently break him of but it is hard because he is so cute! He begs relentlessly for people food (but we are staying strong!) and is prone to climbing in to the dishwasher to try to lick dirty dishes whenever he hears us open it. He has also been caught many times climbing in to the fridge to see what’s for dinner.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photos and Biggy sends lots of love nibbles to his old family at MEOW. I am so thankful there are people like you running a place like MEOW to give cats like Biggy a safe space and a chance to find their “forever home”. – Andrew
