Roxy

We brought home Roxy (originally Rosie) on October 10, 2014, when she was exactly six months old. She was very shy and skittish, and spent nearly all of her first week at home cowering behind the toilet! However, we persisted with gentle words and slow movements, gave her plenty of secret spots where she could safely hide and watch her new family, tossed her the occasional treat to catch and devour, and used feline pheromone spray around the house to help her relax. Eventually she stopped reacting to every new sound with “What’s that? Will it kill me?” and began to realize this was her home, and these were her people. She especially bonded with our niece, who is now away at college.

Roxy has gone from being almost silent to quite vocal. She likes the sound of her own voice and will sometimes sit in a corner with her head tilted up, meowing at the wall and enjoying the acoustics. She loves running wildly up and down the long hallway of our home when she’s excited. She still runs away when there’s a knock at the door, but two minutes later she will emerge to sniff at visitors. Roxy had her own cat bed, but eventually decided people beds were a lot more comfortable. She quite often burrows under a blanket for added warmth and security, and wakes us up in the morning by walking on her people and telling us she needs food now. She is a connoisseur of freshly-catnipped stuffed mouse toys and a chaser of the Mysterious Red Dot. And she likes to steal the computer chair for naps.

Roxy was recently lost outside for a few days, but after several sleepless nights – both for her and us, we suspect – we successfully brought her home with a humane trap we borrowed from MEOW. Thank you so much for your help in getting our sweet kitty back!

Teddy

Hello!

It has been a little over a month since Teddy (formerly Garris) came into out life from MEOW. He is one of the friendliest cats we have ever met and he takes the word companion to a new level, always assisting us around the apartment and generally being close by whenever we need him.

The moment we brought him into the apartment, he was home. He hopped right onto our bed and began to lounge out as if had lived here his entire life. Even the vet, at Teddy’s first check up, was impressed with how relaxed and comfortable he was.

In the evenings, when he’s not cuddled up in one of his many claimed spots around the apartment, he’s playing with his favorite toys that can always be found lying around. Suffice it to say, he’s made a wonderful and adorable addition to our little family.

Best,

Jake, Noelle, and Teddy

Muu & Zora

Hello MEOW Folks!

Here’s an update on the two cats we adopted from you this past January.

We adopted Muu and Sora (now we call her Zora), a bonded pair, back on Jan 16th. They’ve been wonderful cats, and we think they’ve been very happy with us. Your personality assessments were definitely spot-on – Muu is indeed a “leader of the band” in that she is very adventurous and assertive; she loves to explore and get in to everything, but is also very affectionate and wants a lot of attention from us (she also loves to groom both us and her sis, Zora). Zora is a very sweet “party animal,” – she loves to play with her toy mice and puts them (purposely) under the stove and in her water dish. She is a bit less dominant than Muu, but also very affectionate and talkative. They get along very well together, playing and sometimes even sleeping together. We love them so much, and our home feels so much happier and fuller since we brought them here.

Thank you so much for bringing us together, and for providing such a positive experience! We’ve included a photo of them below.

Best Regards,
Mike and Katherine

Chloe & Sadie

Hello!

We adopted Chloe and Sadie in January of 2012 when they were 4 months old – they will be four years old in September.  They were “foster sisters” and had been fostered by Marilyn before being brought to MEOW.  They have been such a joy!  This is one of their favorite spots – looking out the screen of our slider door from our basement out to the back yard.  They love watching the two rabbits that have taken up residence in our yard this summer.

I adopted “Chelsea” in January after losing my cat of 20 years.  I was sitting on the floor at MEOW in a room with her, and she climbed right onto my chest and just laid there…..I knew at that moment she was going home with me! I renamed her LuLu (aka Lulu the Lion) since she was shaved with a lion cut.  She is a beautiful, huge cat (16 lbs) that loves to talk all the time, especially when she wants kitty treats!   She loves to snuggle and have her belly rubbed!   She greets me at the door every day when I come home and curls up in bed with me every night—I just love my LuLu!

Mr. Bumbles & Briar Rose

Hi there,

Just wanted to drop you a line to say how wonderful it was to find these two in one of your foster homes. Their foster mom clearly knows her stuff; these are two very well socialized and well behaved kittens. They get into mischief, as they should, but are totally used to being handled, don’t mind nail clippings, and always use their litter boxes, for example. They are wonderful and so is foster Mom, Marilyn.

We lost both of our cats over the course of 2014 and the house had become very dark and sad. These two have made it warm and happy again!  It’s true I might not be getting all the sleep I’d like to, but I’ll trade that for them playing and snuggling with us and each other any day.

Thanks for everything you do,

-Lauren, Travis and cats

Chloe & Cal

Chloe and Cal (formerly Starlight & Starbright)

Hello,

Just wanted to let you guys know, we LOVE our kittens, SO MUCH! We let the kids name them, and they’re now Chloe and Cal. They stayed in my daughter’s room for a full week, with their litter and food and water, and they came to love her to pieces and slept on her bed every night (even the first night!). We all visited her room every day and played with them, but sleeping with my daughter was their favorite thing. My daughter was just THRILLED with this.

After that, we opened them up to the upstairs, which they had a great time roaming. Then we transitioned them to the whole house, and they’ve spent the last few days going nuts with delight, exploring every nook and cranny. They love their toys, and we play with them all through the day. They purr like little diesel engines!

They’re now becoming lap cats, and they’re even tolerating our gentle-hearted 85lb Black Lab, who loves them sooo much! All he wants to do is cuddle with them and lick their heads. They let him get close, but not THAT close. But I’m willing to bet within a month or so they’ll be sleeping on him.

Thank you so much! We couldn’t have asked for sweeter kittens, and the whole house is just thrilled with them. We love them!

Fiona

Fiona

Hello!

In 2010, I adopted Mimi, now Fiona, a small female Siamese mix. She is the best little sidekick!- just like her personality test said she was. I’ve moved with her to Minneapolis, and she seems to have come into her own here. Thanks for all you do!!

DJ Baby Einstein

DJ Baby Einstein (formerly known asTrixie)

Hi Friends of MEOW Cat Rescue,
When we noticed that our only cat was lonely, we went to adopt her a new friend (Dec. 2011).  Our cat loved to play and we wanted to find her a playmate.  A 6-month-old cat named Trixie captured our hearts.  She began to purr the moment we picked her up.Now known as DJ Baby Einstein, she is the pet of our dreams.  She loves to play catch and wrestle with our older cat.  In fact, now they team up under the Christmas tree.  Otherwise, she is snuggled up on our laps.  She was the perfect match for our family. I wanted to thank MEOW Cat Rescue and her foster parents, who raised her to be a kind-hearted creature.  She never scratches or bites, she only cuddles!  I wish I could thank them or learn more about how she became such a wonderful cat!  One million thanks!

Abby & Dylan

Hello,

I just wanted to let you know that I couldn’t be happier with my two new additions, Abby & Dylan (formerly Irene & Sprite).  In early September I adopted both kitties.  Each one was from a different litter and there was a slight age difference.  They became friends immediately and are inseparable.  After a few weeks, all is well with the dog too.  In fact Abby and Vinny love to play and cuddle.   It’s just too cute!

Thank you for a great experience and all that you do.
